There is something so special about waking up in the middle of the night to spend time with Jesus. I was so excited to participate in perpetual adoration, the charism of our community. As I was sitting before Jesus in the Eucharist during my first night hour of adoration, I was thinking about how exciting it all was: keeping vigil during the night with Jesus while the rest of the world was sleeping; giving Jesus all the intentions that have been entrusted to our care; and talking with Him in the quiet of the night. Then, it hit me—God does not sleep. The King of the Universe is always keeping vigil for us. His abiding presence is concretely known as I gaze upon Him in the Eucharist in the middle of the night.
